Last friday I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding for a beautiful couple who were referred to me by their wedding coordinator, who was a good friend of a bride I shot last summer. I love how referrals work!
Anyway, I was a bit more nervous than usual for this one, because the bride came from a bit of a celebrity family. You can find out their identities at my new blog (http://www.jamisonwexler.com/blog), but here are a few of my favorite images:

Great shots Jamie!
Love #4.
#7 seems a bit underexposed, esp. the background.
While there is some emotion in #8, I don't like where the guy sitting seems to be looking...

Number 7, is just great, the composition, the lighting, its all great. I like your blog, but I must admit never to have hearing of them.

#7 is fantastic. I thought the exposures is what you were going for, very romantic! Very nice work! I am a bit worried about my first African American wedding. The engagement pictures were a very difficult shoot. Yours look perfect, any pointers? What kind of lighting did you use?

Thanks guys!

It took a lot of photoshop work to get the background that dark ;). The original showed everything - and it distracted from the focus of the image. I chose to do a lot of burning to make sure the focus was on the couple. A lot more photoshop than I normally do, but I liked the results

I wish I could give you a magic bullet answer, but the fact is that good exposure is good exposure no matter the skin tone. If you used a handheld incident meter to determine the proper exposure for a scene, it would read the same, ignoring the tone of your subject's skin. What will be fooled is your camera's reflective meter. Darker skin tones will cause it to overexpose a bit. Makes it a bit easier to blow out the dress. My advice is to watch the histogram, just like any other wedding, and watch for the blinking highlights where they shouldn't be. Best of luck!

Fantastic Jamie!
I'm so impressed with how vivid no.5 is. Would you mind sharing what lighting/lens you used to get this effect?
many thanks

Happy to Damian!
I shot that one with my 70-200 f2.8 IS at f2.8. All natural light. As I was shooting them in front of the church, I looked over at this little patch of shade beside the church, and noticed how soft and warm the light was there. So I moved them over and shot a whole series of tight poses. I wanted to make the background as creamy as possible (since there was a busy road on the other side of the trees), so I shot the lens wide open. I stood on a bench to get just a little height on them and get the most flattering angle possible.

No 3 is my favorite simply for the way you arranged the group! (Was that arranged? if so, WOW WOW!)
