One of our brides is requesting for this type of shot.

Just wondering what's the technique in taking the shot where a group of people are huddled in a circle while the photographer is on the ground.

Do you use flash to light the faces of the people?

Yes. The other option is to use ambient light and blow out the background. You should decide how you want the shot to look then work out how to light it. Pretty simple.

I saw one from the ground and the flash was shot up the brides dress essentially diffusing it. Metered the sky, lowered exposure and then hit them with flash. Its fun and you will get the girls giggling.
