I am looking for a lab in the USA that can produce high quality prints in both color and B&W from digital files on a variety of papers. I found a lab that makes 6x4.5 negatives from digital files, which allows you to use standard film printing. The price for this service was rather high to do any amount of large volume (i.e. $15 a negative).

I have seen posts here before where some of you talk about large canvas prints from digital files. I hope someone here can point me in the right direction of a lab. I am planning on attending the Photo Electronic Imaging Digital Conference in Atlanta in January. I am sure I can find what I am looking for at the conference, but it is still a long way off.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks…

There are several pro labs that can do as you are looking - www.cpq.net ; www.millerslab.com ; www.bullockpc.com

I use all of these pro labs and you should be fine with any or all of them. You dont need to go back to a neg - you can print directly from the digital file.

Send them a CD with your untouched files and you will receive beautiful prints back. Yes, you can also add canvasing to any print just like from a neg. Depending on your digital camera model and rez.... with my D30, I am fine with straight prints up to 16x20, but 20x24 I feel needs to be canvased to help soften the look of pixels, not unlike film grain.
