Hello everyone,
I am sure something like this has been asked, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for in the archives.

I have started using the RAW mode on my G2 and in the process taking the RAW file and using the Canon conversion software to convert to TIFF and then loading those into Paintshop pro.

After a little playing around, I realized using the TWAIN driver I can pull the converted data directly into Paintshop Pro from the RAW file. My quesiton is which is best or is there really a difference?

Thanks for the help.

Happy shooting,
Michael

I use PSP 7.0 and RAW mode on my G1 and would like to know how you convert RAW direct into PSP which would save me quite a bit of time. Do you have to do it with camera hooked up or can you import or load a RAW file from disk?

Right now I use Canon's standalone RAW image converter (not Zoombrowser) and it works fine but is slow.

I'm using the TWAIN drivers that came with the G2. I don't know if they were included with the G1. In Paintshop Pro, you can go to File, Import, TWAIN, Select Source and you should find something about Canon camera. After selecting that, you can go back to File, Import, TWAIN, Acquire, and you will be provided a interface screen for reading in your RAW files. The screen looks kind of like the screen you would get if you were scanning an image with a scanner.

The TWAINsoftware that came with the G2 will allow you to either import directly from the camera or a CRW file stored on your computer somewhere.

Since I don't know for sure what came with the G1, maybe someone else can confirm the presence of the TWAIN drivers for the G1.

Hope this helps,
Michael

Thanks, but as far as I can see my G1 Twain driver only allows import of RAW files from the camera, not a computer file. Guess I'll have to wait and get a G3!

Nah, in line behind me for a D90. ;-)

Wrong line, most things double in the computer world so look for the line that says D120 and look for it in about 2 years. ;-) Get a D60 and start putting some money in lens.

I bought the D 30 when it came out. Just got my D 60 and sold my D30 for $1,400. I paid $2,059 for my D 60 so the way I looked at it I just payed 650 for a brand new camera. All the money I had in the lens' grip, batteries, flash, etc. was just an investment. It all fits the D 60.
