I think sometimes as artists we stress too much on the final result of the product instead of having fun and allowing the client to have fun. Many times if not most, our work is one of the least important aspects of the wedding day. Meaning to the clients, our personality and the personal connection we build between our clients and us is what will be remembered. The little things go a long way and while we personally love capturing something unique and interesting from an artistic standpoint, having the best photos in the world wont help if the client hates you.

So something we (TriCoast) try and do at every wedding reception when time and space allow it is to set up a 4x6 softbox with a reflector for fill light and take stupid pictures of the Bride and Groom and their guests. By this time of the reception with an open bar and the serious work has finished up, capturing just stupid fun images truly make the evening fun and gives the Bride and Groom something they will always remember in a positive manner.

We have a chest or two of dress up clothes full of masks, hats, feather throws, wigs, etc, we have the guest dress themselves up and step in front of the camera and well its a SUPER fun time for the guests the bride and groom and most importantly for us the photographers.

The lighting is not that important just basic but the attitude and expressions you capture makes it all worth wild!

Funny.Looks like a great time to be had by all. I have to agree you need to have fun when doing your job. I have had a blast at the weddings i have done, no exceptions and feedback form the couple and their families has always been positive about the whole day.

Not for the price they pay me :)

Honestly little things like this, going that extra step makes a WORLD of difference in your business and getting another wedding or two from guests at these weddings.

Yes they were but remember this was the "after party" between midnight and 2am so they had been drinking all night long which plays right into this sort of thing. All very rich people with very nice outfits on so if you can get these sort of wedding guests to do it you can get anyone to do it!

Mike Fulton - i like your ways.. what a unique way to approach shooting a wedding.. i like it and really wish i could work for you! lmao...would be a ball and so much fun.. i think personally alot of weddings are uptight and boring and if i ever saw this at a wedding i was at as a guest i would love it! and to work shooting it would take out the ordinary when shooting at a reception.. nice work
