dust inside the lens

I noticed a few dust particles inside my 135mm 2.8 lens that I bought brand new about a month ago. Do I have to worry?

I have to admit that I'm new to SLR systems. I did a quick search around rec.photo.equipment.35mm There are many posts regarding that issue. Majoroty says that one should not worry too much about that, since quite often lenses have a few dust particles straight from the factory and then they accumulate dust with usage.

Is it possible to send lens for cleaning inside? Actually, I bought an imported version from B&H, do you know if B&H can clean it?

Most probably, the dust won't show up in shots. And if not, I wouldn't care. Cleaning the "inside" of a lens I suspect will be more costley than what you gain from it. I see many dust-particles inside my 50mm, but they're not visible in shots, so I don't care.

Your best bet seems to be to leave it alone.

I work on lenses for a hobby-it is indeed a prick of a job with most lenses.Not nessesarily from the complexity of the lens-allthough some are very tricky- but because getting a lens surface perfectly dust free is unbelievably difficult!
You have to have a LOT of dust in there before it's worth doing

Oh,a couple of specs of dust are totally meaningless to image quaulity-they simply cant have any effect at all.
If there is a fine coating of dust on a lens then that is something that is going to effect image quality
