Any resale-value in an "EOS 1V m"?

One guy here selling a EOS 1V m with a 28-135mm IS lens for ~ the cost of the lens itself new. And he describes the the condition of them to be "as new". I'm not "old enough" to know film-SLR's, and have no clue if that cam is worth anything to anybody.. If it is though, I could maybe buy it for the lens, as I've heard good things about it in here, and sell the camera. If not, I rather buy the lens new if I get interested enough, cause the price-difference of a new one, and his camera+lens is like $20.. What do you think?

:shock: And a "1V" is a "highend" camera no matter if it have a "m" at the end? The "m" doesn't stand for "m-ore than usual crappy" :P I have no clue about theese film-cameras.. But heck, if it's a camera costing $1000 used, I'll probably take this deal instead of the 28-70, and then sell both the lens and the camera each on it's own :) Or if I can't get to sell the camera, use the lens as my walkaround, and use the body as a backup-camera when shooting events. Not quite digital though :wink: but no matter what, a backup can get that one shot you otherwise would've missed because you had the wrong lens on your camera.. I'm considering this now.. (hard)..

I honestly don't know what the "m" means. You might find something out at the Canon on-line museum.

Here's the article.. Norwegian :-P But at least the subject (orange line) should be quite capable to understand for English-speakers. "Ny" means "New" though.. This is not a auction-site, but a "announce the price, and hope someone buys it". But at the end of the auction it says: (translated)

"Check out my net-auction" and it links to a Norwegian auction-site (much like ebay, just norwegian). There the bids start at $720 (the price announced on the original site), but the auction-site like ebay, got a "buy now" option if you want to buy instantly and not wait til the auction is over. If using that, he wants $2700 for it. Something smells fishy about this whole dual-marketing with so different pricing I think..

Found the museum - no "M" that I can find. You probably ought to look at it though, as the 1 series is the top-of-the-line in film 35mm SLR's.

Woah - that's a common e-bay tactic - accept bids and sell to the highest bidder, but leave an option to sell now at a price (usually a high price).

I'd check KEH.com, and B&H and see what they are getting for this particular camera. You might end up with a good deal on it, but if its out for bids, chances are that you won't get an excellent deal - it won't be good enough that you can re-sell it for a useable profit.

Oh yeah that's common. But (I don't know if this was explained good enough) this is at two different sale-sites in norway. The one an auction-site, and the other (the first mentioned) is only a sale-site without any auction-functions.. And on that site, it's marked for sale at $720.. But it really smells fishy to me..

My guess is that he made a typo. If you can get it for 750 I would jump on it the 1v is and excellent camera almost as good as a Nikon F5 or Minolta Dynax 9. After playing with one of those you'll be wanting to throw away the 10d and trade up to a 1d Mk11, the 1 series camera's either film or digital are some much more responsive and just feel right.

If I didn't have a wife I would get one, but then again the wife keeps me warm at night and can hold a conversation, then again a camera doesn't answer back.....it's a tough choice!

well.. you could also sell off the 1V for 800$ and get the 17-40 L for that....
