Just thought I'd share a couple of these. I believe all that I'm posting were from the 30D and 17-55 IS.

It's an action called "Midnight Sepiav2". I think I may have gotten it from fredmiranda.
The color with that action always comes out too yellow though, so I just let the action do its thing, and then I use the brush tool with the dodge & burn layer active to lighten and darken as needed. Then I desaturate (ctrl+shift+u) and then apply a 50% sepia photo filter.
Seems to do the trick. Thanks for the comments.
PS- I also did my own PP before running the action. USM 15,150,0 and USM 150, .3, 0. Curves, saturation, and levels in Raw conversion as well.

Nicely done, Ronnie! And I agree that the kid pic should be kept in color. Love the ring shot, though! The action is very nice for those type of shots.

I dig #3. Nice contrast between texture of hands and soft flowers.

Midnight sepia can be found for free at www.atncentral.com
Looks like you have the same problem that I do.. you leave too much of the sepia which causes too much of a glow. While working on them it looks good and looking at them later it's too much (so in your second pic) :(
I love the last shot

Yeah, I was just gonna post the link. Here's the actual download link for the right one.

As for the "too much glow", that's easily fixed with the brush tool with black selected on the dodge and burn layer. Just burn away the glow, and dodge back in the normal manner if you take it too far.

The rings one is a really nice composition with everything pulling in the same direction ...

I love the kids in color too@! as if you hadn't heard that before :) 2 seems cropped just a bit to tight...or needs to be closer..but still a great emotional shot :)

I like the vingetting in #1. I think #2 is too soft for my taste. Did you get that midnight sepia action from me? I posted it here last week. Its very true that the action leaves the image with a yellow tone. I like the idea of adding a 50% sepia photo filter. Lovely post processing.

Same here. I have many versions of it, though.

Nope. Got it a long, long time ago.

It is true, but only if you let it "do its thing", which I rarely do. I tweak the settings as it goes through them. I usually change the hue to a more brown (sepia), and turn down the saturation a bit. Sometimes I'll reduce the gaussian to 15 or so, as well.
Glad you like them.

Thought I'd add one more, just for kicks. The lilacs in the background were from their yard.
