I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8 (non-macro). The lens was purchased used and functioned perfectly. The lens subsequently developed a problem, where the autofucus would not work. I can feel the HSM motor/ring click, but not move the focusing ring to focus. Brought the lens to Sigma for repair and all was well after the repair back in April.

This morning, in trying to use the lens for the first time in the field, the same problem occured and the lens failed to opperate.

Anyone else have the this problem with the Sigma. Using it with a 30D. Switched over to my Canon 17-85 and shot the rest of the morning after the Sigma failed. Are there compatibility issues? Any feedback is appreciated.

Dealing with Sigma Canada (Gentec Distribution) is the customer entitled to a new lens from Sigma after attempts to fix ir fail? A very subjective question I know, but how is Sigma customer service in problems of this nature? Either way they will be tested on this matter when I return the lens for the same repair.

Since you bought the lens used.... probably not. They may swap it out, but since it isn't even in production any more, unlikely. Your repairs are likely covered though so send it back in again. Bummer about the problems... guess it was more broke then they though it was.
