Just been watching a show on TV about haunted homes, and sprit images appearing on film when doing photography.
Whether it's true or not, who knows.
My question is, if it shows on film would it also show on digital?
And please no PhotoShop trickery, I can do plenty of that myself!
Having said that, it could create some interesting images.

a trick I do depends on low lighting conditions.

Basically set the exposure for a few seconds, eg 8
Arm the flash
Get the subject to stand in for the flash part of the photo, and while the shutter is still open for the remaining time, get the subject to move out of camera range.
The finished photo then has a transparent ghostie in it!

I know this method is pretty basic and very restrictive, so I'd like to hear other peoples' methods too

Ghosts are analog and will not show up on digital cameras.

So that is why I haven't been able to capture any ghosts with my video camera, I have been using a mini-dv camera. Will have to borrow my friends old analog VHS

Brian,
Are you seriously wanting to take pictures of ghosts ? :?
If you find any ghosts, please post.

I don't mean to offend....... but do you really believe in that stuff ? I for one haven't seen any. I hope I don't

Haven't gone in awhile, but I shot a bunch of flash pics at night in Gettysburg, PA on the battlefields and came back with a bunch of orb pics, plus a few weird light trails.

So yes, digital works, at least in my experience.

A ghost would have as much chance of appearing on film as in digital.

Humans have a very limited scope of lightwaves that we see.

Film and digital have extended ranges beyond what humans can see. Thus a ghost (say reflecting ultra violet light) is standing behind you, you won't see it in the mirror, but the film or digital camera could.

Not all cameras or films extend into the invisable ranges the same, and thus some film or camera may work better than others.

Note: This is only speculation! I have no evidence that ghosts reflect ultraviolet light, but it does seem plausable... and I just made it up anyway.

Have fun shooting ghosts. If you snag any photos, post them here first!

Thank you all for your very interesting comments. I am still trying to figure out what an analog ghost is, as it was mentioned that they do show up on digital cameras.

Thanks again

Surely the problem with ghosts is simply one of getting them correctly exposed?
