I am considering a wide angle lens and have pretty much decided on the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, but wanted some advice from the pros...

Is 17mm wide enough, or have you found that you need wider lenses for weddings?

I am also planning on buying the Tamron 28-75 & Sigma 70-200 f2.8 to cover the rest of the range I need..

What I would say is the lenses you have listed are all good lenses. I would buy them from ebay and save a few pennies. The reason I say this is that over time you will upgrade to canon L lenses, so you will loose less money if you buy good used or from Japan than if you buy local.

I started out the sigma 15-30, tamron 28-105 2.8, sigma 70-200 2.8 and sigma 120-300 - over the past couple of years I have traded up and now have all canon lenses (not that I have updated my signature)

With 20 20 vision, I could not have done the jobs I did without the other lenses and I could not have afforded to buy all the canon lenses without doing the job, so its a good starting point.

That being said, now when I want a new lens, I just wait till I can get the canon L series, they are amazing.

good luck

With the crop body you have I would go for the Canon 17-55 2.8 IS. I use it and it is awesome.A little pricey but still worth the money. I tried the Tammy and sent two back because they didn`t cut it at all.

I agree with Tony. While the Tamron is a fine lens, you'd be better off with Canon glass to shoot weddings, budget permitting. The 17-55 would be more desirable with the IS, which you will find invaluable for shooting in dark churches.

I just got the Canon 17-55 IS two days ago, from great reviews given on this forum. But you must budget in a hood and high quality filter too, don't forget.
