Well, if there is one thing I have learned, it's that I apparently need a bigger lens if I'm going to go for topside shots here at McConnell AFB. However, I spent the week chasing just that, but what doesn't help is the fact that these pilots bank in a different place nearly every time...which leaves me chasing them all the time, and burning a lot of gas in the process. Anyway, here's the results of this week's attempts, so please feel free to give advice and comment when and where appropriate. There are different angles, as well as a couple rather poor topside attempts. Thanks in advance!

OH...and they're ALL KC-135s. Sorry.

I don't wanna hear about the ones that are cropped too closely...there was nothing I could do about that in processing 'em. LOL

Cool pics, keep them coming!

Well, you could get a (take your pic) Canon/Sigma 1.4x TC. From there it is another lens. This will give you more reach than the 100-400mm F5.6 as you will have 420mm F8 (I think on the F, but the maths is correct.) I was thinking my 120-300 F2.8 becomes a 420mm F4 for a minute.

Might I also suggest the Sigma 300-800mm F5.6 or Canon 1200mm F5.6L?  Put it this way, the cost of either of those lenses leaves my Sigma in the dust...nevermind the weight.

Something trivial, but I like the detail of the extended flaps with the gear retracted. Very good looking series, definitely worth the gas.

Congrats.

Nice! What are those two things hanging on the wing tips in the first 4 shots?

Nice pics but just a little dark from back and top lit however some PS fill flash or level adjustment would help. Thanks for Sharing :)
