Just a couple of shots of some goldfinches. Been busy lately and haven't had time for getting out. Now the rain is keeping me in and all I can do is shoot through the window.

Nice shots but they are both males, the second one is in transition to breeding plumage, note the black coming in on the forehead.

Very nice shots Shirley. Looks like the rain has dampend their spirits a little. Looks like rain here today also.

I stand corrected. Thanks. He must be slow. Most of the others have already changed.

Thanks Mitch. The rain has been dampening everyones spirits around here. ...and more to come.

We have many of those males here who haven't changed or are in the change still. Maybe they don't mature til the second year? I don't know that much about them.

I found this on the Hinterland site...
"is the only bird of its type that gains its breeding plumage by moulting, or shedding and growing feathers."
There is some interesting information there about the goldfinch...

Nice looking images especially considering they were shot through a window. The first one pops nicely!

Those are really nice shots shirley, you caught the colour in both shots perfectly. Not sure which I prefer though, the american or european goldfinch.

A couple of great rainy day shots. Such weather shouldn't damper anyone's spirits, right?
