Hi Guys,

Visited Croft on Saturday, great days racing, but very, very windy, here's a couple of my results, didn't manage to catch the Focus breathing fire but caught it caughing smoke before it broke down, hope you enjoy, any comments most welcome.

I think there was quite a few POTN regulars at Croft on this weekend. A couple of nice shots Alan. I like the angle on the Caterham, but the colours look a little odd to me. The tarmac in particular looks a little on the pink side.

Cheers,

Simon.

Yes I missed this as I was on a tour I had organised around North Yorshire and Durham

The first pic does look a tad off colour. Did you have the WB on somit different?

Thanks for the comments guys the colour cast must be something I did amiss in photoshop, here's a version that is hopefully more true to life.

That second shot of the Caterham looks much better and the Focus would be great if he could sort the reliability problems out, just after he passed me at Tower the engine let go in what sounded like a big way:cry:

Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm really looking forward to going upto Croft again on the 2nd of June, for the BTTC qualifying day (think I'll give race day a miss), have any of you guys been to this how busy is it usually ?, any tips on the best place to photograph from ?

Alan,

Quals day is definitely best for pics as far as us peasants are concerned, but race day is good for the Pit Lane walkabout and Grid Girls ;)

There's actually a race or 3 on the Saturday, with the Clio Cup and Porsches all seeing some real action as opposed to qualifying runs. Given the size of the Clio Cup grids this year (30+ cars !) Clervaux should be the place to be for the early laps :D

Alan,

Qualifying day is the better one to go to for photography. The circuit will be busier than normal, but moving about should be okay. The touring cars will have 3 or 4 runs out over the day. I would be tempted to get down to the hole in the fence at Clervaux early and shoot the first BTCC session (which is usually the first session of the day) from their. The light will be at its best then for that corner anyway.

The chicane should be a good spot as well. Most of the cars will ride the kerbs hard, so you should see some two wheel action and you might also catch them hitting the tyres there as well.

Sunny Out is also pretty good, but don't leave it too late in the day to head down there. Another early in the day location will be complex in. From lunchtime onwards the sun will be pretty much in front of you.

It should be a cracking day, and I am also looking forward to it a lot.

I'll have my POTN strap on and be luggin a Crumpler back pack around with me, so be sure to say hello if you spot me.

Cheers,

Simon.

Thanks for that Geoff, I'll be there, clio cup, porsches, and qualifying, sounds like a cracking day to me, the wife wouldn't let me out with the grid girls, lol.
