.... I will see between my Fuji S7000... and the 10D (if I end up with that one..) Is it worth me getting the 10D? Or should I hold out to get a more expensive Canon...?

Welcome to the forum!

The rumor is that the 10D will be replaced in October, so IF that is the case, it may play into your decision. That said, the 10D has many, many followers, and you will probably hear from several of them shortly. I have the Digital Rebel and I am happy with it for now. If you are new to SLR photography, the 10D will probably take you a long way, so there is little reason to wait for the new model. If the timing works for you, wait. If not, go now - you won't be sorry either way.

Have Fun,

There's such a huge difference between the S7000 (my wife has one) and any digital SLR... You won't make a mistake getting any one of them, I'd say. And if you play the game of waiting "until the newest/bestest comes out" then you'll never get one, ever.

When the time is right, see what you can afford, make sure it's right, and get it.

But don't forget about lenses. The S7000's long range could be fairly expensive to replace with SLR lenses.

Scottes makes a good point re: lenses..

The 10D is an amazing camera.. the singke biggest difference I would say would be the lens options..

But that of course meeans being prepared to buy lenses as part of your investment.

If you are unprepared to spend A LOT more on lenses than you do on the 10D.. then consider the following as part fo your initial investment.

Canon EF 28-135mm IS approx $450.00
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 approx $80.00
