CRW or RAW files as they are normally called are very nice to work with. i have a G5 and a S400 and id rather much edit RAW files from my G5 versus the straight JPGs from my S400.

when editing a RAW file u can adjust your white balance, contrast, saturations, shadows, highlights, brightness, contrast and exposure level as you see fit. RAW give the user TONS of control over an image so that now u dont have to be too careful that u have your settings set when actually taking the pic because i can edit that later
