Just recieved B&H's Digital Photography Sourcebook and the price of the 580EX II is listed at $399.95. Wonder if I order by phone if they'd honor that price? :)

I have no doubt about that at all. Wonder if you took the catalog to another retailer and asked to match price what the outcome would be....:cool:

Its not four hundred dollars. I thought the same thing. Its a misprint. I bought the new 580 ex flash (580ex II) from amazon.com for $498.00 no tax and free shipping. I call B&H and they even told me that the new 580 flash was going to be $500.00

580EX E-TTL II (original mark I for $399)
or 580EX MK II (should retail for $499)

It's listed for $499 in my catalog.

Where did you see that listing? I just got the new B&H catalog and it didnt list any price on the 580EX it said to call for the price..

I know when I call they told me $500.00 for it. I live in new york so if i bought the 580ex II from B&H there would have charge me tax. I bought the 580 with amazon and I did not pay shipping or tax.

For clarification.....

The catalog is the 2007 Edition "The Digital Photography Sourcebook", about an 1 1/4" thick. The 580EX II is on page 111. The text starts off, "Replacing the popular Speedlite 580EX, the new Speedlite 580EX II Flash features a host of improvements, including a metal hot shoe....". Definitely the new model, "designed to match with the EOS-1D Mark III in terms of improved dust and water resistance"

And yes Scott, the disclaimer is in the front part of the catalog, "Not responsible for typographical errors" We knew it had to be there somewhere.

The 580EX II is listed for $499.95 on page 111 of the new Digital Photography Source Book from B&H! I just got this book in the mail on Monday.

I don't know where you saw the one you saw. Perhaps on some other page???

B&H must have had another printing to correct some errors.
