Hmm. The battery from my 350D went through the washing machine. Obviously I'm drying it out but does anyone have any idea if the soaking will render it useless or, worse, prone to damage my camera?

My concern would be water that would have got to the inside of the casing and may rust the terminals.

dont trust it. im sure water got inside the battery. so its either completely dead, or may fry some stuff when you put it in your camera.

Can you not test it using a volt/current meter etc?

Let it dry out. It will probably be OK. Place it so that it will drain. Be patient and verify it is dry before puting it in your camera.

let it sit for atleast 24-48 hrs, and use a voltmeter to have it checked..... and then if it checks well, charge it . and if it doesnt fry on the charger you should be good

Is it really worth taking the chance? I would replace it.

If you have other batteries that can get you by for a bit I would just buy a new one. They are only around $15-$20 (or less) to buy third party batteries from eBay and such.

I would toss it . It may work forever but it's more likely to
1 . leak water into camera
2 . corrode and leak " stuff in to camera
3 . work fine and one day turn into door stop
4 . turn your charger into a door stop .
5 . blow up when charging and take charger and anything else close with it .
6 . I buy lotto tickets so I expect strange things to happen .
