Earth Beat Radio (http://www.earthbeatradio.org/) is currently using one of my bee in flight shots for their weekly program. The funny thing is that last night I was looking at that series and I wasn't happy with one of the shots so I replaced it with another image and it turned out to be the one that EBR picked :cool:

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!! :cool:
@sam -They were simply going through Flickr looking for bee shots and found my gallery. The poser of using a site like Flickr and tagging my photos so all someone has to do is search for "bee" and my images show up (along with thousands of other I'm sure ;) ).
@Zman -Yes :)

so what is happening - is it that the bees can't find their way back?

Here is what I know:
1) The bees are not dying in the hive. Bee keepers are finding their hives empty, and they don't see any dead bees.
2) The predators / scavengers that would normally invade an empty hive and take the honey leave the hive alone.
3) It's happened before, but never to the extent that it has happened this year. I read where one bee keeper lost 50,000 of his 80,000 bees in less than a week...
Although I'm shooting bees here the numbers are not what they were last year...
