Unfortunately, the moon is far too tiny in your picture for it to add much interest. Were it much larger, the juxtiposition of the two objects might have resulted in an interesting composition.
So I get what you wanted to do, I just don't think you used anywhere near enough focal length to do it right. Sorry.
But purely as for whether or not it's a decent crop...the size of the moon aside, the crop is okay.

Aside from the moon being really tiny I think the concept and the angle was very nice and I like it.

I like it, even with a small moon. The angle makes me think of how people probably saw the moon before man landed on it - a far of object that we hardly knew anything about.
The angle seems upward to me, with the flag so big and the moon so tiny - which is what makes me think of pre-moon landing America.
Either way - I think it's a great shot.
