I don't know if I post in the good forum, but I know the XTi has a built-in anti-dust something, but it seems to have dust on my pictures. Not on normal pictures, but shoorting a sky with f/22 seems to show around.... 10-15 dust spot. What should I do ? Maybe the local camera shop can clean it with compressed air or something ? here's a screenshot http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/PrivacyRulz/dustf22.jpg

Salut!
Apparently 'welded' dust wont get away with the cleaning system on the XTi. You can do a search on 'sensor cleaning' on this site, you'll find pletty of info regarding this very topic. As for myself, I just got a eclipse cleaning kit. It's easier than most people think. Since you have an XTi, if you buy the eclipse, make sure you get the E2 (latest version) of the product.

Je suis OK avec l'anglais ;) But we can always use french for PM to save time. Do you sell any lenses ? Edit: On another note, I never remove the lens, ect, so I really don't know how dust can enter.

Heu.. no I don't have any lenses for sale as of now ;-) Dust can be in the camera when it was assembled and the parts that moves the mirror may genrate some as well. It's very common to have sensor dust on a brand new camera.

Compressed air is not recommended... too powerfull and can leave residue on your sensor.
For a start, If you don't have one, get a good hand blower (Rocket blower), put camera in cleaning mode, remove your lens (camera facing down), give it several good shot and see how it goes.

Ok! If you sell your 17-85 IS USM, I would be interested. Maybe even trade the kit lens I have. I would benefit IS, and it has a greater range.

What should I do ?If the dust does not show on normal pictures, then you do not need to do anything! Just relax and enjoy taking photographs.

What's that other thing you can do with the XTi? ( I have one, but not with me now) You can shoot a plain white surface and the camera will sense anything in the image (dust) and automatically take it out of your photos for you. It's a good temporary fix until you can clean it.
