I'm looking to buy a Canon 75-200 f4 L lens to go with the 300D
Does anybody have this combination who could give comments on its performance please.

considered to be a bargain. but I remember that there were lots of complaints on dpreview.com forums about backfocusing with 70-200 f/4 L. may be it's nothing, dpreview users seems to overreact to everything ;)

I use it on my 10D and love it. It's a great lens, and for your entry into the "L" world - well worth the price. A little tough for low-light or fast action because it's a slower lens, but again well worth the money. I don't think you will be disappointed.

lol,. the first time I EVER had to move a subject TO the EOS forums...
The 70-200mm f/4 is one of the best deals in a zoom lens canon offeres.. it is superb.. and if there is a debate at DPReview over it.. all I can say is that DPReview is "backfocusing"... not the lens :)

The EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L is a gem of a lens. Fantastic optics, not too bulky, light and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it.

mine works great. it's a very fine lens for the money. only thing is
the white lens clashes with the silver camera!

Thanks you guy's for the response
I think I am certain that I will part with hard earned cash as soon as I can find one.
I seem to be having trouble posting a reply to the site so I hope this way works

I have one too with my Rebel. It's awesome!
Optically, it's one of the best zoom lenses made.
In fact, mechanically it's one of the best zoom lenses made too!
Super fast, quiet, and built very tough. Relatively light too.

Nick try Roberts Camera (http://robertsimaging.com) they have refurbished 70-200 f4 L USM in stock, at least as of last Wednesday they had 4 of them. Cost is $550 and they come with a warranty from Roberts and Canon. I have one of them and I am very happy with the results I get with it. The focusing is lightening fast which is what I was needing.

You can get a new one (not refurbed) for around $550. I got mine last Thurs. from 17th St. Photo for $573 before $30 rebate....brand new with USA warranty.
I haven't decided how happy I am with mine yet. At first I thought it was backfocusing, but then I got some pretty nice shots with it and last night I played with 'real-life-test-shots' for several hours and I think I like it. I've decided to keep it anyway.
Some of my first shots with it are here: See what you think. Some are not in the best lighting and I was shooting (hand-held) at fairly slow shutter speeds...so some of the blur is my fault.... What do you think?
