Upper left hand corner of my monitor is darker

Hi all.
Well today I noticed that my monitor ( on the upper left hand side) is darker. Their is no interfierence. Any ideas?

Is it a CRT or an LCD?

If its a CRT it might just need degaussing, usually found in the monitors menu options.

Iv had a couple develop random patches for no apparent reason in the past, degaussing has solved the problem.

If its an LCD.....................

Backlight bleed is common on LCD monitors, and it isn't uniform. It's only a problem if it severely inhibits your work (ie, you can't tell accurate colors).

But, it is annoying as hell. I had a Viewsonic that hardly bled at all, but I had to send it in for warranty service. I got a loaner that bled a lot, and it sucked royally.
