I was looking at this background support from Impact, and it says it works with paper up to 12' wide.
However, when I read the reviews, it almost sounds like you can't adjust the width of the system. Ie, you have to have it setup 12' wide at all times. Has anybody here used this background stand support?

The width is either 12ft, or 8 ft.

Have you checked Amvona.com? That's where we got our support system. Seems it's min width is 9 feet, max 12.

Thanks Titus, I did have a look at some of their stuff on ebay.
Looks pretty good, are they hard to assemble?

We set up a small studio for formals at weddings and do in-home portrait work and use a set from Amvona. They seem to carry easy and go up easy. And while they aren't the heavy duty variety they seem sturdy enough to accomplish what's needed. I generally try to stick with muslin backgrounds but occasionally use 9 foot paper rolls. They hold it no problem.

I believe that is the system we use. Our total shipped price was $132 which seems between this one and the next one up. Ours are 2 years old now and we've had no problems. I don't know if you've ever dealt with Amvona before but they can be slow and non-responsive to inquiries at times. I've never had an issue getting anything, it just takes a while. Of course that plays directly into my patience levels too...

I just set them up and our minimum width is 5 feet, max is 12.

Yeah, that is one thing that worries me about amvona, slow delivery and responses.
I had that problem when I ordered a stand from them. I really need the backdrop in two weeks or sooner!
