Some of the flowers have started to come out, so I decided to dust off the ol' G3 and start trying to get into the swing of picture taking again.
Here's one of my efforts so far .. any critisims are welcome:

I agree with the previous post. After all plants are full of colour. I had a look at your web sight and I like what I see, so why desaturate this one? I'd love to see it in its full glory.
Love your other stuff.

I have to agree on the color issue, also I would like to see it sized smaller so we can see all of it at one time.

My first thought was, "Say Aaaa"! The B&W isn't working for me as it is. Did you try some extreme contrast?

Here is the picture "colorized":

I must admit, I do prefer the black and white shot. I guess my argument would be that since the flower is really only a single color, purple, that the color of the flower in the "colorized" version holds no importance, and that the colors of the surrounding environment are actually distracting. In the black and white version, however, since the color factor is taken out, the shadows and textures come into greater play, without the distractions of the surrounding environment.
Hope that makes some kind of sense *chuckle*
I do appreciate all the comments. :)

I agree with you! That's why I suggested maybe a contrast change to make the shapes bolder.
