My gallery has been down for days now.

You can browse the gallery.. see al the thumbnails.. but NONE fo the images are available...

Thsi is the second thing they seem to have singled out in my gallery..

The other one has been over a month now and that is.. I have 4 images in fotopics top 100 images of all time...

2 of them were once in there top 12 (yes twelve.. not ten? go figure)

About a month and a half ago.. they destroyed the links to these images (all four) from the list of 100 and top 12 display pages...

So now.. anyone checking out the top 12 or top 100 can see the thumbnails.. but when they click the link... "image not found"

Of course the image is still there in my gallery (or was untill two days ago when they lost ALL of my images:( )

Anyways.. no image when link is clicked = no views of images in fotopic counter... now in that time both of my images that were in the top 12 have slipped from the top 12.. and I may soon lose one of the top 100 images.. as they can no longer generate traffic. :(

Bummer.

Whoa! I didn't realize that!

take a look at the photo contest web site, it has the exact same problem: http://canondigitalphotographycontests.fotopic.net/

Guess I'll have to host it on my site until it gets fixed (if it ever does...) :(

Oh well... I enough space and bandwidth so I should be OK :)

CDS,
I feel for you man...

ps. were they the quahog photos that were in the top 100?

Nope..

Thtree of them were from the fashion show.. wonder why?

And one was the two hawks sitting on a ledge..

Not too long ago.. one SuperModel and the Hawks were in the top twelve...

The top 100 is still here.. with the BROKEN links to me now non existant pics :(

*ouch* :x

Is there nothing fotopic can do about it, can't they fix it? I guess you could try email them but they're probably knee deep in s**t trying to sort out all the problems right now. :(

Well apparently they had a major grade disc crash a few days ago... they've been trying to "restore" things ever since. Several of my collections have disappeared except for the thumbnails.

Given the time taken to "restore" I suspect they are having trouble finding a useable backup... I've more or less resigned myself to the fact that these collections are gone now. If I want them back I suspect I will have to re-create them from the originals.

I'm thinking the same thing... in the meantime I just wish they'd let us know.. so we can get on wiuth re-building ourselves.. :(

From the fotopic status page...

"The disks in question have gone off to a specialist data recovery place in Southend: these guys recover image files from crashed military planes among other things so we've got at least some chance of being able to recover collections. However, sometime tomorrow or Wednesday there will be an extra icon appear for all affected galleries which will allow you to re-upload the files into the relevant bit of the system without losing collection settings. More as we have it."

A decent tape drive would have saved them all this hassle. Let that be a lesson to all of us! Discs are not to be trusted.

I registered there a while back, but after waiting for one of my pictures to load for about a week I gave up. ??? I guess I should check it out again to see if it ever loaded. :D

Edit: Nope, still waiting. ???

Did you click on publish pictures. You have to manualy load them.

All of the pics I am trying to post are failing to load. They won't upload!

Ahh, ok I didn't know you were supposed to click on publish. I'm used to Webshots and so the wording threw me off. I'll see if it loads now. I can't remember what photo I was uploading now, though!
