Well after two years with the D60 I have recently seen a problem on images that have been taken shooting skywards. The dust spots are understandable but what is really concerning me here is the dark line that runs from top just off centre to the bottom. It can't be a hair or such like as it hasn't moved even when air is blown over the sensor. The image here has had the contrast changed to emphasize the problem.

So I suppose I am expecting people to confirm my fears that the sensor is FUBAR. As I say it is only seen when shooting skywards but considering aviation is my primary photography subject it shows up there all the time.

Try shoot the sky (or some other white solid object)..at f/22

If it really brings out the dust *and* the line, then the line is probably on top of the sensor with the dust.. If it only brings out the dust, then the line is probably "in" the sensor itself.. (If you haven't done so, perhaps try a wet clean)..

It doesn't look good.. I had an old Canon S100 (Elph) that had a line in the blue areas when it was brand new out of the box.. I sent it back and they replaced the sensor under warranty..

Thanks for that Jim I am not confident in cleaning the sensor and if it really is within the sensor then I am in trouble as the camera is 2 years old. I am sending it to Canon to look at in 2 weeks time after my holidays but I still fear the worse :(
