I will start off by saying that this is for a friend who is paying.

I just recently bought a Sigma 500 Super(if it ever gets here), a 7 ft. lightstand, and I am going to be getting those Ebay triggers soon as well.

My friend wants some action shots of him boxing, I have convinced him to let me try the Joey Lawrence style of fighting pictures. http://www.joeyl.com/#

I know I can't reproduce these with only one flash, but is it completely necessary to have two or more flashes for better than average portraits?

I also want to get a soft box, the Amvona units have sparked my interest, I own a CF tripod and ballhead combo of theirs, but I don't know if it will just attach the flash or if I will need another attachment. Will I also need something to attach the flash to the stand, or will the triggers do fine for that, keeping in mind that I want to put a soft box on the flash.

I have looked through the strobist site and searched this site, but have not come across my specific perdiciment. So any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks everybody.

I am also in the near future going to be designing an new album cover for a friend, so my small time photography is finally turning up a small step out of the red. But first I need the gear for quality pictures. Schweetness.
