So what are you fine folks going to do this weekend?

Plan on filling up the old gas tank and heading off for some fun, or using the amount of cash and buying that fine L lens you've had your eyes on?

LOL!
I hate spending good lens money on gas.

But.... the family doesn't agree with me on that. So we are off for a 3 day weekend to the boonies of Nevada.

Up north, where I live, Memorial weekend marks the delineation point between spring and summer where we usually finally know it's okay to pot our plants. So this weekend I'll spend in inordinate amount of money buying plants of every size and color. Then I'll spend a full day covered in dirt and playing with potting soil. At the end of this endeavor I should have some healthy happy plants to spend the summer doting on before alas they croak and die in the fall. Good times!

If I can swing it and if I'm bored enough I might try and convince my adoring aunt to lend me the keys to her huge camper and campsite, and spend a few days in the woods. I feel the need to reconnect with nature.

Aren't you just trading places? The boonies of Southern Utah for the boonies of Nevada? ;)

Shooting Softball !

Well, taking pictures of my girlfriends summer ball team... Scott (timbernet) pointed out that I am supposed to hit softballs with bats, not shoot them with a gun...

Sounds like everyone has fun stuff in store. I'd love to hit the capmgrounds, but I've learned that Memorial Day weekend in to campgrounds what Easter Sunday is to church.

Will probably just load up the kids and the bikes and hit some local trails.

Taking lots of photos I hope.

And my wife and are are participating in an "adventure challange" with some friends: a 4 mile run, a 16 mile bike and a 4 mile kayak paddle followed by much beer and food.

This is the second to last weekend before my wedding, so trying to relax. And, of course participating in the Maryland tradition of eating crabs! Can't wait.

My new mk2N gets here tomorrow, so I'll be spending time getting used to it. There's a SCCA Double National race at Pacific Raceway this weekend, so I'm sure I'll wind up out there at some point to really test the new camera.

Congratulations Stacie, you lucky bum! ;) Someone should take you to a day at the spa and make sure you get the full treatment.

Well, if there is such a thing as an appropriate time to get crabs, before the wedding would be ideal, eh?

Congrats on the wedding!

Thanks. I've been tracking it via the UPS site all week. It arrived in OR this morning, (one state away) so I went ahead and added it to my sig today. I can't wait. I think I'll have to post some camera porn tomorrow.

LOL... as long as I'm not the only one hitting the refresh key at least once an hour on the tracking page!

Can't wait to see some shots with your new toy. :)

Ouch! Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks :). It really isn't bad at all - when I was younger I had horrible strep throats and swimmers ear about every two weeks. This doesn't hurt nearly as much as a sore throat (now, anyway). The only two bad things are the swelling and not being able to eat solid foods, but I'll manage. This is actually giving me some free time to do some pleasure reading, which I haven't had time to do in months.

Outstanding choice for a handgun. Carried my 357 for over 20 yrs. Never switched to semi-autos.

I chose my gun like I chose my camera - I tried loads of different types and brands before I found the one that suited me.

I chose my Canon because of its versatility. I chose my 357 because of its versatility (9mm/38/357 rounds will all work). I chose both because both get the job done.

Actually, I tried automatics but got double feeds so often that I found them unreliable which is not desirable in a critical situation.

I had all of mine out at once, all four. My heart stopped beating in post-op, but that's a different story. I lived on mac-n-cheese for two weeks because it was the only thing soft enough that I didn't have to chew and didn't have to get near my empty teeth sockets. I wish you a speedy recovery, rest and enjoy the time off.

Ditto to all four out at once. Only one of my cheeks is swelling a lot. I don't know why, but I'm experiencing no pain - After the first 12 hours I stopped taking the prescribed vicodin - I'm certainly not complaining ;).
