I have this camera for almost 2 years now, almost never used the Manual mode, and I have this problem ever since..

Whenever I go to manual mode, and change the shutter speed (1'3, 2 or even 8) when I take the picture the screen goes black for a few seconds, a busy sign appears and then the result is a totally WHITE picture.

This does NOT happen in a dark room - in a dark room I get a bright picture - as soon as there's little light in the room, somehow the camera enhances the light severly and the picture is totally white.

Any idea what can be the cause of that? Is that a faulty camera??

You have the camera in long shutter mode and you're over exposing all the pictures. This mode is only for nightime without the flash. It goes black for a moment because the camera is performing a noise reduction process that takes the same time as the shutter speed.

Refer to page 83 and 84 of your manual.
