Not only was it my first time, but it was Felicity's too. To add to the nerves, we only met once before, to arrange the shoot. I was asked to do this a couple of weeks ago, so I spent some time here getting as much info as posible before going out to do a shoot.
More from the shoot http://www.flickr.com/photos/viniryan/
Anyway here goes, C+C would be great. Advice would be super!:D
Thanks for looking.;)

first i'm not sure if it's my laptop monitor or not, but they seem to lack contrast. might wanna try a levels adjustment and bring the black and white sliders in a bit.
i'll give a shot at c&c, remember this is just my opinion. i'm not saying i'm right or wrong since i really don't believe in that when it comes to art.
the first one and last two seem to be a weird angle for me...looking up at her. on the first, if you had shot at eye level or close to it, the blown out sky would have been minimized as well as the shadow behind her head and the bit of double chinnage. plus, and this might just be me, it bothers me that it is easy to see her arm is at camera level. not really sure why though.
the second is a very nice shot. would make a great candidate for a b&w in my opinion. maybe add a weak color burn on the wood to darken it up.(edit, i see in your link you did make it b&w)
i LOVE this shot...not sure if it's gonna let me hotlink it or not...but this is my favorite of the bunch, i like the motion blur in the hair, the pose looks very natural. awesome shot.

I agree... the levels need to be adjusted to bring out more contrast.

Thanks for the feedback.;)
Adam, thanks for the C+C. I don't no why I did it, but most of my shots where taken with me lower than the model. Of course I didn't realize this until I had the pics on my Laptop. I kicked myself for that.
Any more?

nice shots. they look really good. so did you direct your model much or was it more of a collaboration of poses and stuff? just curious how you did your first time out with a model :-)

Thanks Ryan.:)
I was nervous as hell not having done this before. I did direct her a little. It helped that although Felicity had never modeled before, she done real good.:) I just wished i got the angle right.
Overall, I think we done OK for first timers. Felicity was very pleased anyway. Next time, there should be an improvement with my compositions at least.:D

hehe, you'll get your compositions down...that's why they offer those big 2 gig and 4 gig cf cards. so you can shoot anything and everything and still have room for more :-) now go get creative and have fun

All nice shots, a few things I noted.
#1, just a touch of contrast, not much. Otherwise I like it alot.
#2, compared to #1 it seems like its a bit on the "cool" side colorwise, try to bring back some warm color to her skin and it would look great.
#3, I like the conversion, the crop got me wondering tho, its like its either zoomed in too much or too little. But that's just my opinion.
#4, its a nice pose, the only thing is that it needs more contrast like in #3, its very grey scaled to me, a little contrast would make it pop a bit more.
Just my 2 cents.
