Hopefully back to full working order by tomorrow

Cheers for now

Nice hoverfly Mark, is it Scaeva pyrastri ? it looks very similar apart from the one in my book is not as yellow, it's more white.

Like the hoverfly Mark- very difficult to make scale insects interesting though :)
Think the hoverfly is more likely Eupodes sp. possibly corollae

Hi Mark. Scales are as ugly as they are destructive. I guess I prefer dead ones. Nice Hoverfly though. I am going out of town for a week and will try to pm you before I go.
Take care my friend.

Hiya Alby, Brian, Irwin,

Many thanks for your kind words & comments,

Brian,
Your spot on with that ID having looked at various sites it's very obvious I got it wrong, wish I'd done that in the first place as although the books I have are good but don't cover a wide enough variety, great thanks.

Irwin,
Have a good time outa town, hopefully not all business, you know what they say about all work & no play

Cheers for now

Wow... that's - lol - if it really looked like that it would be pretty scary. And it would get eaten a lot I would think because everything would be able to see it a mile away.

Hiya Forsakenme720,

Many thanks for your kind words & comments, guess if it were for real it would be deadly poisonous being this colouring.

Arty one looks like a cross section of my sciatic nerve - note the flames ! Sounds like you are having a rough spell, all the more frustrating when you are an active type; hope you settle down over the next 24hrs.
