It seems that you are not really a POTNer until you have had a try at this, so here goes.

Though I'm a little worried about what that dodgy looking dude is doing with my EF 80-200 f/2.8L!!!!!

Aww shucks, thanks Kirsty. :o

The hardest part was setting up the camera and tripod with such limited space so that I could fit all of the me's in, even with a 12mm lens. You can see the wide angle distortion quite clearly in the foreground and left side of the shot. But it doesn't seem to detract from the fun factor. :)

At first I was thinking what a diverse group of friends you have. I was like...what are they looking at on the computer.

I'm an idiot. Great shot!

I was hoping that the change of clothes would confuse at least one person. Mission accomplished. :p:lol::lol:

Yeah, not so sure about the bastard flogging my lens. ;)
Actually, only the suit really took much time to change into. The rest where quick as I generally didn't have to worry about putting shoes on.

Great job and one of the best iv seen
Rob.
Thanks a lot for all your comments. This is encouraging me to think of another one for sometime in the future. Maybe an outdoor one. I'll have to think of some more "characters" and then buy outfits to suit!

One stupid question...How did you do this? I love the confusion it creates when looked at....I would love to know how to complete such a great accomplishment. Please share your madness!

Ok, here is what I did.

THE SHOOT
- Visualised what I wanted.
- Cleaned my room. ;) (a bit)
- Chose my outfits, and put them all out of sight so I wouldn't have to move anything or open and close cupboards during the shoot.
- Arranged the furniture.
- Set the camera on a tripod and adjusted the camera position and the furniture to fit everything in.
- Shoot in manual so that the exposure is exactly the same each time. As it was indoors I also used a flash to fill in any shadows, and compensate for the fact that there where a few clouds messing with the exposure. Also, as it is indoors, the shutter speed was slow so I had to stay vewwy, vewwy still.
- I have a remote shutter with an long cord so I didn't have to run around the room, and also reduces the chance of bumping the camera out of alignment. But this is not entirely necessary as I still used the timer so that I could drop the remote out of sight and get into the final pose.
- Change clothes and positions between each shot, sometimes doing multiple shots and cheking them to see that they worked as I hoped.

I've always wanted to do a muliplicity shot similar to this. Difficult for me to set up when most of all my free time is spent with my son, and he's all over the place! I'll get around to trying it out some day. This is one of the best I've seen here. Nice job, man. If you're ever stateside I'm buying you a beer.

I want to try this sometime too. I would be in a black suit with shades and multiply myself. Kinda like The Matrix.

the 3 of 'you' at the front of the shot are a story in itself, good choice on the suit as well, job well done :)
