View Full Version : Trouble copying RAW files from MK II

I download my files from the CF card using ZoomBrowser and a card reader. I've been shooting RAW + L, and only the JPEG files are being copied over. I have to manually copy the RAW files into the computer.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems like it shouldn't be necessary to go through the extra steps. Should I re-install the software?
The Canon USA website appears to be down this morning, or normally I'd look there first for the answer before bothering my friends.
Any ideas.

Try downloading them with "Downloader Pro", I use it and it works like a charm. It will even format your CF card after download automatically. You can automate it to do everything you need when you open it.
Hope this helps

I download my files from the CF card using ZoomBrowser and a card reader.
Somehow it's hard to understand for me that Canon would ship some precious gem like the 1DMKII with that manifestation of poor software engineering, ZoomBrowser  .
Best regards,
Andy

Quite possible, Scott. I'm going to check version numbers. When I installed the Canon software bundle that came with the Mk II, I believed (assumed) that it included a new installation of Zoombrowser, buy maybe not. I'll check it out; it's very plausible.
Thanks,
Tom

So far the only things that I know of that work with the CR2 files (MAC OS based) are the new EOS Viewer Utility and the PS CS with Camera RAW 2.2 patch. I'm waiting for iView Media Pro to update the patch for the new formats. Here is an interesting read that says we aren't alone in this issue.

I imagine the windows based tools are in the same boat.

Zoombrowser doesn't work with the new cr2 files. I didn't like it either, so I downloaded the new plugin for Photoshop CS and I use DPP too just to view the files.
Get use to it. I agree with you, Canon blew it on this one. I would rather used a enhanced Breezebrowser rather than the new software.

I took Cgratti's suggestion and bought Downloader Pro. It does everything I want and is faster/easier than Zoombrowser. I'd say it's well worth $30.00
Thanks to everyone for your input.

For the Apple users, I noticed iView Media Pro is now working with the CR2 file extensions. So far it looks pretty good.
