hi guys, im a total flash newbie, i only use my flash for indoors and macro.

but now that the new 580ex II is out, im curious.

first question

1) my 430ex seems to recycle (reload) quite slow when im shooting shot after shot, even when im using new batteries (full charged).

So if i want faster recycle time, is the only option buying a 580ex II?

2) a stupid question (just curious), is it possible to set my built-in flash as master (or something) and use my 430ex as slave?:lol:

Anyway, thanks guys!

My 580ex has a faster recycle time than my 420ex. Its fair to assume the 580ex II will be as fast.
The 350D built in flash can't act as anything other than a basic low powered in camera flash.

How fast the flash recharges after a shot depends on how much of the charge was used to light the shot. The less the light output, the faster the flash recycles. Assuming your batteries are fully charged, you can speed up your recycling time by 1) increasing your ISO, 2) increasing your aperture, 3) getting closer to your subject or a combination of these so that less flash output is used for a particular shot.
