...a dragonfly hanging from the Ivy that grows up my fence. Sitting having my evening meal, gazing through the window, and there it was, I clocked it straight away. Needless to say, he was worth neglecting my meal for!! ;)
Also, nearly 24 hours on, it's still there, and getting rather wet!!
Along with the image, I've added the full size version link. CC welcome as always.

Wish they'd do that for me, if its still there I'd shoot it but don't cut of any of the body... apart from that good clean pictures :)

Fine shots. "He" is a "she". It's an emperor dragonfly (anax imperator) I hope the weather improves and she finds prey soon or she'll die.

Gorgeous shots - you certainly did get lucky.
I also hope it stops raining soon for her, she really needs to get some food.

#1 is incredible. Excellent color and clarity. Wish you had included the tail, though. --Rick

Great shots Twinx! - I had a similar one emerge from our garden pond last year, but didn't get quite such clear shots - haven't seen anything this year yet, but living in hope - last year's emerged in July.

Thank you so much for all this positive feedback.
You will be pleased to hear that the dragonfly took to the wing this afternoon, when there was a brief window of opportunity. I would of hated to see her perish.
As to the full body shot, I did manage to grab one yesterday (well just about, nearly missed the tip of the tail  ). Here she is anyway, with a link to the full size version..
