My camera has been shutting down all of a sudden, it doesn't close the lens either... Anything I can try different?

How old is your battery pack?

I've just had this problem with my A80 - my batteries were running dead, new batteries, no more problem.

I have only had the batteries & camera for a little over a month... It is rechargeable batteries. I had one set of batteries that were charged full but it still said to change the battery pack so I did & now with the new batteries is when it shuts down w/out saying the batteries are low or anything...

If you don't have a low battery warning at all (before shut down) it looks like you have an intermittant break in the power line. Send or take the camera in to your local Canon authorized depot and have them take a look at it.

Also, are the batteries hot when the camera shuts down? Perhaps there is a short in the system.

Whatever the cause, the camera should have a short visit "home" and get a look at.
