I nearly missed him, he blended into the tree so well.

no way I would have seen it! His color and plumage mimic the tree he is standing on soo closely , how did u see it?

Awesome picture and that close up is just scary. Look at that eye.

Great shot of a well hidden bird. They really aren't very pretty, are they?

Wow, what an interesting bird that you were so fortunate to see....I'd never heard of a Frogmouth, but a bit of googling shows that there are three species of frogmouth's in Australia. Thanks for posting this unique bird.

you're welcome..Funny I often think the same when all you guys post pics of birds that we don't have here in Australia.

MarkoPolo, no they aren't pretty but I think they are a bit special :)

kenyc, thankyou, I agree about them being an amazing bird.

Nature at its finest! What great camoflage that bird has. A great capture, and I love the close up (crop?) of the head.

They are the coolest birds- our pair imitate the neighbour's toy poodles (not the most redeeming feature....)

Thankyou, the second pic is not a crop though, I got very close to this bird :)

bobthefish, wildbirds or are they captive?..I am trying to imagine what that sounds like LOL!

T.D., thankyou :)

Wow that is an amazing animal. I'm so impressed by his color. Great capture and thanks a lot for sharing. I have to say that camo would be worth a lot of money in the store. What a great pattern.

I live on a small property, we have 4 acres..I found this bird whilst walking around our property with hubby..We get all sorts of wildlife here but often I am caught out without my camera :)

Thank again everyone for taking the time to look and for your comments :)
