Hi all! I am new to the forum and have been looking for some help on a problem that I ran into this weekend.

Well I graduated from college this weekend and I had my Canon Powershot SD100 to take pictures of the celebration. Well I got fairly inebriated (sp?) and put the camera in my back pocket and unfortunately cracked the LCD.... :x

I did a search and found this thread:

Cracked LCD replacement (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7839&postdays=0&postorder=asc&hig hlight=cracked+lcd&start=0&sid=9d61bbc69e3715f2d2c 017871174c3c2)

The thread is very valuable info! But no one in that thread was replacing the LCD on the SD100. So what I was wondering was if anyone with an SD100 has replaced their LCD.

If you did replace it did you send it off to Canon? I called them and they said I would have to ship it to them and they will appraise the work but it might take at least a week! If you sent it off how much did it cost you and what was the turn around time? I also called around to local repair shops and everyone charges at least $120 for labor and then parts on top of that which IMHO is just rediculous!!!

According to the thread above it does not seem like much hassle at all to replace it yourself. I was wondering if there were any other SD100 users that have replaced it on their own? What was the total cost of the replacement (LCD, screwdrivers, and other materials)?? Also technically was it easy to do or was it a pain?

I appreciate the help!
Thanks in advance!

If you're mechanically inclined, replacing the LCD shouldn't be too big of a deal to DIY.

Call the Canon parts center for price of LCD on your Sd100. Note that they might just sell the LCD by itself instead of the whole screen assembly which will cost more. My guess is that it will be anywhere from $40-70.

New Jersey parts center, 732-521-7230

Good luck.

A few weeks ago I cracked the LCD on my SD200. I decided to replace it myself so I ordered a new LCD from Canon. When I got it, I was able to remove the old LCD and install the new one fairly easily. The only problem is that after I put the camera back together it won't turn on.

Anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
