View Full Version : Gray Market?

Could someone offer a quick explanation of a "gray market" lens or camera?
Is there a way to tell, visually or otherwise, if a lens (Canon 16-35 in this case) is gray market?
I've been thinking about getting a lens from HotBuyElectronics.com but they are awful cheap. I'm concerned their products may be gray market (or the company itself may be a little gray).
Thanks very much!

hiya...
check out their feedback at resellerratings.com...
hotbuyelectronics/reseller's ratings (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1938.html)
$1449 for an import (grey market) at b&h (my favorite choice)
$1335 for an import (grey market) at deltainternational...
if i were you, i'd avoid hotbuyelectronics.com...they look like another nyc ripoff outlet...go with delta (for an extra $70 it's WAY worth it...deal with betty (she's the best) and you'll get what you pay for)
grey market items are identical to non-imported items...occasionally the manuals differ...but i own lots of grey market canon hardware...haven't had a problem yet :)
hope this helps...
