Just kidding...trying to get a few views! This is my son. I had an earlier image that received comments that the background competed with the person. I tried to darken and blur the background a little to help him pop out. The image shrinking hurts the image but maybe you can still see what I tried to do. Is this better? Thanks for looking and sorry about the misleading title.

I missed the first image... Im not sure im too fond of the darker background and the bright area around your subject.....it clashes and looks too unnatural for me... I think they were commenting on the texture, not the exposure.....

Leave the original lighting...and try some blur on the background.... Hope this helps

I would re shoot it with your 70-200 on your 5D racked out at 200mm @ 2.8 with similar conditions outside and this one would be a winner.

Definately better! Your son now looks more like the point of interest in the picture. Blurring the background a bit more would enhance this effect.

I agree w/ all the above. Your son seems to jump out more w/ this image and the sharpness of him stands out as the focal point. If you could do it again, open that sucker up all the way to bokeh the background out. I would think you would achieve the "WOW" factor...
