This is a quote from an old article by the Sports Illustrated Photo editor as he was going through shots taken by the top 11 sports photographers in the world:
"I've never seen so many guys say so many good things about their own take, and there's nothing but **** on the screen," he says. Later, unable to find a good shot of a particular Patriots touchdown catch, he gestures at the screen. "Eleven guys. Eleven versions out of focus."
So, what can I expect? I shot 150 pictures of a HS baseball game the other day. Not all, to say the least, were tack sharp, in spite of the equipment I was using. The basepaths were dry dust and were blowing all over the place, etc.
Maybe, just maybe, I'm not so bad after all. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. Maybe not.
