B&W with my S30

Greetings! I recently purchased an S30 as my first digital camera. LOVE IT.

Quick question: What (if any) is the difference between shooting a picture using the camera's black and white mode vs. just shooting a color picture and converting it to black and white in Photoshop? Just wondering if anyone knows....

i've only had my s30 for a few months now but as far as i know, there is no difference in the end result. However, the way i see it is that once you shoot in b&w, that's all you'll have. if you take color shots, you can always convert to b&w (or sepia, etc.) with the software. i don't even bother with that feature anymore because of this. maybe someone else has experienced some difference but i haven't.
