This was my first time Drag Racing with my new camera, and my first chance to practice panning. Unfortunately 2 days of the 4 day meeting were totally rained out with not a single wheel turning on the track.
Comments and critique very welcome as I am looking to improve as much as I can.

really nice shot's a friend was there that weekend on one of the teams , i forget ! but anyways , he said it was such a waste of a weekend..
i find it hard to distinguish the difference from the car and the background at the pod even with a good long pan , due to the background being so colorful and busy !
im up there this weekend coming for a car show , hope the weathers nice

what a weekend was down all sunday in the end endded up playing uni with a couple of driver friends
your pan looks good but i would be prepaid to go lower and realy smooth out the back ground.
i normaly shoot from the other side and further down as you tend to get a more dramatic shot but still very impressive for first time at a 1120ft of asphalt with a camera
p.s the main image on page 25 of the program is mine (dominic romney ) ;)

One of my efforts from the weekend, Stig Neergard having kicked a rod out of the block..
BTW, if anyone is at any of the National Championship events feel free to pop in and see us in the Pro-ET pits (normally as far away from the start line as you can get!)

Nice shots, only suggestion would be to use the bottom focus point to get the car in the bottom of the frame.

I really like the photo of my dads car (the purple 53 stude which runs in pro mod) its a great photo.
The one of the blown nugget pro mod nearly hitting the timing lights is also a great photo!!
:D

Fantastic shots , was a toss up between castle combe on the monday or goto the drag racing , the free entry to castle combe won the day . I will have to venture upto the pod one day this year .

Thanks everyone for such valuable comments, they are exactly what I need, that and practice. Shame it rained as I would have got another two days shooting in and it would have been awesome as records were already being broken, good going as for a lot of the cars it was their first time out this year, the place was rammed with the best from all over Europe!
Next time I will definately try going lower with the shutter-thanks Zilly.
Interesting suggestion regarding the bottom focus point, I will give that a try too. I have had a play around with one image, is this the kind of thing you mean adamsti?

I took a look at the weather, and went along Saturday, was playing at photographer, as I was wandering around with friends.
Here's the one of the Top Fueler with problems, just as it happened (look at the back tyre unloading)

I was waiting for the Mercury in picture 5 above to do a run, but he had carb problems, so I only saw one run that he aborted before the 1/8 mile.
The bikes went quite well

The one before would have been better if the two "professionals" weren't mid frame talking to each other...
I also got a sequence of the Bigfoot truck getting it wrong and parking it on it's side.
