My site has been up an out there for a couple of weeks

The site is to promote our motorsport and eventually Landscape as well.

You need an actual home page. Something that's simple, not overwhelming and makes the viewer want more.

When I initially clicked on the link, I thought it was to your "Latest News" page and not your home page.

MommaB is right, your site needs a structure and I mean by that a start and an end. In my opinion, for this kind of sites you need a root (and that's the home page) and then the branches as you defined them in the menu. Take for instance this forum < http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5 > has a root, and this thread is a sub-branch. Hope you understand what I mean.
