went out to the city on monday to do a little picture-taking. i have more of the "graffiti series" i tried shooting, but this is the first couple images i worked on.. trying out a new workflow. of course, C&C always welcome.

http://www.digitallyabsolute.com/images/graffiti1.jpg

shown below is a panoramic shot of the same scene. it is composed of 6 images and took me about 2-3 hours to manually stitch these together since adobe's photomerge wasn't working out for me. i tried to do it as best as possible, so i hope it came out ok. i embedded my name somewhere on the image just in case you're wondering what that is.

original file size is about 56x13"

I really like the composition and PP work on the first shot. Great workflow - would you care to explain how you got that effect in Photoshop?

I love both of these and would also like to hear how the effect was done.

my workflow on these shots composed of burning/dodging, curves, a little saturation, and a little sharpening.

thank you. i always love your photos and to hear a compliment from you is great :D. as for where this is, if you walk to pearl paint on canal going towards the holland tunnel, walk another block down from pearl and turn right. its one of those side alleys.. its also near a sex shop called babeland.

Who can remember a Vespa shop when there's a sex shop in competition?? lol!

Ah Babeland! That's definitely not on the Vespa block. Lol, Crissa, when I went down Babeland's block (I was just passing through, I swear) I didn't even notice this graffiti that S. A. took. My attention was elsewhere I believe.

Seriously, this is near my usual stomping grounds. We should all get together for a shoot.

i would definitely want to meet up. i always drag my girlfriend around whenever i shoot and i feel bad always taking a long time and getting her bored. always good to have someone else to shoot with because you dont have to worry about boring the other person

I wouldn't call my work outstanding but I appreciate the kind comments. :) Watch for a new series here in the next couple days, shot an abandoned paint factory and a forgotten home about 3 weeks ago, and whatever I catch on my travels tomorrow. Gotta find some time to process. BTW, with this series (and especially the first post about graffiti and even the skateboarder one) how have you been PP'ing? I'm really digging the look.

I guess the graffiti is more creative in New York than it is in Detroit. I got a graffiti shot today when I took my new camera to work for the first time. Nice job on putting the second one together.

Number 2 is an amazing shop. Living in and around the nyc area you kind of grown used to the graffiti everywhere, that is until you see a shot like your second one.
I like others hear, would love that shot on a canvas or a pano frame, i would hang it up somewhere in the house for all to see!
I like the suggestion to meet up as well too, im around my brothers job on 8th & 32nd a lot and would like to just go off somehwere with other photogs for the day and take some good shots, and learn from you guys too.
The cool part of the pano is the statement on the curbing...
"I am a slave to what frees me"

Last but not least....where can i put in an order for that pano? lol

thank you so much to everyone for your comments :D. glad to pay the stitch paid off because i shot it without a tripod and at 17mm. just walked from one section to the other hoping i got all the "frames" in the same manner. with the small distortion at 17mm, i had to fix the skew, among other things, to make it look just right. which is why i appreciate the comments about it even more!

thanks! i will definitely be down for a get-together with other POTN'ers in NYC. judging by your username, i hope you bring your bike so i can take some photos of it too. been thinking about getting one for a while.

as far as the pano, i am gonna try to get it printed for myself sometime next week. if it comes out good, i'll get it printed on an on-order basis with a price that covers the cost of printing, shipping, and a little extra for me. i will keep everyone updated. thank you for the interest
