I'm thinking of getting this lense to cover my wide angle needs. It would cover the range I need without paying $1300+ for the Canon 16-35.

I will be using it with my D60. The only other lens I have at this point is the Canon 28-135 w/IS.

Does anyone have any thoughts good or bad?

Thanks very much!

And also concerning this lens, I'm not familiar with the drop-in gelatin style filters (I hope I spelled all that right).

Would someone mind telling me how these work and some good places to get some? If I get this lens, I plan to get a polarizer and 81A.

Thanks again.

Not as wide, but I have the 19-35mm Tokina and am extremely happy with it! :)

Half the price of the Canon 20-35, and, using my friend's example, we can see no difference between the Tokina and the Canon in the shots that we took to compare the two lenses...

Just something else to consider if you're looking for a wide-angle zoom for the D30/D60...

I was searching B&H and there not showing a 19-35 just a 20-35 pro. Do you know if the 19-35 is discontinued?

Thanks

I wouldn't think so. The Tokina (ATX) Pro model range is a different animal, AFAIK... (kinda like L lenses...)

I have the Sigma 15-30mm and it is on my camera most of the time. Great lens. As for a gelatin style filters I can't help you there. The lens hood will accept a 82 mm filter, I haven't tried it but it apparently works well. BTW the Sigma 17-35 is a hit and miss, some have had good luck others not and the same goes for the Canon 17-35mm. I also have the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 which is a very good lens too. I haven't heard a bad report on the Sigma 15-30mm.

The lens is excellent on both the D30 and D60. Sigma gives you a little form fdrom which, you can cut a filter from gelatin sheets available at large camera stores,: they are sliped into a small holder at the rear of the lens.
