Does anyone know the solution to taking a still shot of a computer screen without getting the "lines" on the computer screen because of the refresh rate? I have tried taking the shots at a slower (1/4 sec) shutter speed and that seems to be working ok. But that means i have to use a tri-pod.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or solutions to this problem?
Your input is greatly appreciated.
thanks

if you've got a Windows PC, I'd try the 'print screen' key on your keyboard, then paste into some paint-program.
For Mac, there's a solution too...
The quality will be much better than with a digicam...
Anyway, if you want to take the shot with the cam, the refresh-rate of the screen in Hz = 1/s should a divisor of the shutter speed...
let's say you have 100 Hz, so 1/100, so a shutter speed of 1/25 or 1/10 should do it...
but you have to adjust the aperture so that the picture won't be too light or dark

You can also get one the the screen capture utilities. I use SnagIt by Techsmith and you can capture the whole screen, active window, or just a region of the screen and then save to quite a few formats.

Screen capture if it's a computer (Print Screen).
For video - it's 30 frames/sec, so you need to go below 1/30 sec. That's why 1/4 sec works for you.

If you take pictures of LCD displays like flat pannels then have no lines on them at all (screens' like on most laptops)
