This is a rock band playing at a local pub in the north of England. Venue is quite small and lighting was flashing spot lamps with the strongest one coming in from the right.. Random sequence so had to catch the light.. Even when catching the strong one it wasn't all that bright.

Even at iso 1600 I couldnt get a proper exposure so went as low as 100 and tried to do most at shutter speeds of 160 with the hope of good PP

Canon 1dmkII using a 50mm 1.8 iso 1600 average speed 160. flash wasn't an option. I am a sports photographer but would like to get into photographing local bands as currently there is absoloutly no one doing it in a large area, As such these have been well recieved but I think it's a case of better than nothing :)

BTW all will print up to A4 . Full set of 50 pics here http://www.hyndburn.co.uk/c1287433.html

#1 This at iso 1600 and shutter speed of 100

I wouldn't consider 1/100s; f/2; ISO 1600 bad... Welcome to PA ;)

Looks like a quite okay set for boring lighting (there's more then quantity to lighting )

Some very nasty things happened in the B&W conversion of the last one though...

Love the first.

Agree with Rene on the second.

Thanks :)

I did one a couple of weeks ago and used flash. All the pics came out really good... too good.. they where all crisp clear perfect pictures which was deemed no use for rock and roll.. they where too good too sterile too perfect.. No more flash even if I am allowed.. well not for this subject..

However ear plugs are a must.. only because I have to go so near the speakers :) Not very rock and roll of me is it hehe

I know what your saying. I have tried taking pictures of my friends metla band but they end up looking, well looking too good because I just do it wrong. THis set of pictures is great.
