Ive had showit web for a while now and really enjoy using it and get some great feedback from weddings where we do slideshows and then afterwards on our blog.
Because of this I have wanted to also give showit effects a try as from the videos I have watched that also looks like it will be handy for quick edits, (especially for other people that help us out that dont know anything about CS2, namely my wife and my partners GF one of which usually attends the weddings with us) however the price has so far put me off (our spend to date on equipment and software must be getting near £20,000) and the fact that you cant try before you buy, but todays offer was too good to miss.
Normally its $149 but theres an offer today for $99 .... which was quite tempting but then a quick google search later and I found an offer code (Aperture) for a further 25% off taking it to just $74 .... which was way too good to miss.
Look forward to giving it a try later tonight !

Note : I am in no way affiliated with the software or DJ, just wanted to let people know about the special offer in case they have been thinking of buying it.

How much did lite and pro used to be? It was 149 and 199, then?
EDIT: You can't try out showit effects, by the way.

Showit Web Pro was $199 when I bought it in March and its still $199 but is on offer today for $129 (maybe less if the coupon works for that as well which I think it will)
Showit Web Lite is normally $99 and I think thats still the same price, no discount offered.
Showit Effects is offered at $99 (less if the code stil works) usually it sells for $149

Yikes, I just bought ShowItWebPro this week, and I missed this coupon? Oh well... so what's this about a "code" for ShowIt Effects?

Ack thats gotta be annoying, whenever I buy anything online no matter where I am buying it from I always do a quick search for coupons and offer codes for it ... tis amazing how often I find one. Theres quite a few big index sites for offer codes that will come up in the search results and some of these are sometimes succesful but more often than not its a post on a forum or blog thats been indexed that turns up the best results.
Theres a 24hr sale on some of the showit stuff atm and then the offer code I posted above also worked for me making showit effects $74 .. added to which the current exchange rate atm makes it particularly nice value for us in the uk..... especially when you see things like adobes UK pricing for CS3 .... complete rip off compared to USA price !!!

NPs, I just really appreciate any site that will let us pay in dollars rather than the rip off pricing Adobe (and many others) subjects us brits to.
USA upgrade to CS3 = $399
UK upgrade to CS3 = $971
Yeah thanks a bunch Adobe yah robbing b*******

Yeah thanks a bunch Adobe yah robbing b*******What upgrade are you quoting here? CS2 to CS3 from Adobe website is 163.32 GBP for the boxed version (= roughly 322 US dollars).
Anyway, thanks for the ShowitEffects tip - we've already got ShowitWeb and Brilliant presets, and had intended buying Effects for a while, but never got around to it - today was a good reason to finally do so! Code didn't work for me from my account there - got a message saying it was only valid with purchases over 175 US ...no matter still a great deal at 99 US - thanks!

I just picked one to compare and it was the upgrade to CS3 design standard that I used, download version prices rather than boxed product.
Hmmm, dont know why that code didnt work matey, worked fine for me .. although maybe it shouldnt have and they have just fixed it ... in which case I will sit here and wait for my smiting from DJ ! :o

Maybe they have just stopped it then or maybe its dependent on something else, just went back to check my order to make sure I wasnt imagining it and I wasnt.

Photoshop CS3 upgrade on its own (valid from v7 upwards) is around 162 GBP in the UK (which includes 17.5% VAT), and around 195 US dollars in the US (prices from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com) ...still a difference allowing for VAT, but I wouldn't call it a huge ripoff.

Dont know why the price differences arent as big on amazon but i still think paying the equivelant of $322 compared to $199 is a rip off.
and when you compare simply buying CS3 outright via the amazon website the dfference looks worse.
$641 for USA peeps
$996 for UK peeps
Funny that using Amazon evens the prices out a bit though, deffo better than the adobe site.

Well ive played with showit effects tonight for quite a bit as I work on some new content for my website and I have to say I am well pleased with this purchase. Just like showit web it maybe doesnt have the biggest feature set but what it does do it does very well and will deffo allow us to add some zing to our slideshows in double quick time !

How weird that some got it for 74, I did for 69 and another for 129.
Either way, I wouldnt have bought it if it wasnt for this awesome deal because I have ProShow Gold and figured I dont need it enough to spend 150 on it, so thanks!!
